michele cagol

Associate Professor in General and Social Pedagogy at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Faculty of Education. He earned a BA+MA in Philosophy (Bologna University), a 2nd level master's degree in Cognitive Sciences (Siena University), and a PhD in Education (Free University of Bozen-Bolzano).

His scientific interests are mainly focused on emotional education and ecological/sustainability education. He also studied Clarinet and Experimental Composition at Bolzano Conservatory, held the Electronic Music Production Certificate at SAE Institute Milano, earned a MA in Music and New Technologies at Bolzano Conservatory, and a MA in Composition at Trento Conservatory.

His recent instrumental compositions have been performed by Ensemble21 (Belgium; Director: Marc Collet) and MotoContrario ensemble (Italy) in Trento, Riva del Garda, and Udine. With the experimental electronic music duo kvsu (Michele Cagol & Hannes Pasqualini) and akirasrebirth (Roland Lioni), he has done concerts and performances in Bolzano, Bologna, Milano, Innsbruck, Munich, Dresden, and he participated as composer and performer at the Festival of contemporary culture Transart 2014 and 2015.
His composition radical beauty, for flute, tenor sax, percussions, guitar, baritone, violin, and double bass, has been performed by El Cimarrón Ensemble, baritone Robert Koller, and directed by Clemens Heil in Toblach (Settimane Musicali Gustav Mahler Musikwochen, 17.07.2022).
His last composition, What the Glaciers Tell Me for orchestra – commissioned by Mahler Orchestra Toblach and its conductor Sybille Werner, composed in the context of the 2023 conference “Music and Nature in Musical Modernism Since Mahler” by the Gustav Mahler Research Center in Toblach/Dobbiaco –, has been performed by the Mahler Orchestra Toblach directed by Sybille Werner (Gustav Mahler Music Weeks 2023 - 27.07.2023).
